Q. Being the key player in the industry, Please brief us company’s journey from inception & share some of the milestones achieved?
Mr. Rajendra:
Lijo Cherian and I, jointly set up this company in 2005, as a partnership firm. Our professional journey so far has been an interesting success story right from the day one till date; and I am sure it will continue to be for a long time to come. I can recall how we initially started from scratch and processed our techno-commercial experiences to move forward. Before starting this company, both of us were working in a small tool manufacturing unit.
In 2005, we jointly decided and started this company with one secondhand conventional milling machine, installed in a small rented shade of 200 sq. ft. Both of us, ourselves, used to work on the machine, making simple Tool Holders for small scale units located around us at MIDC Bhosari.
In 2007, we took one VMC on rent, at a different location and hired two operators to work on this machine. In 2009, we shifted in a building, having big area of 7000 sq. ft., owned by us.
By 2018, we have grown with 100+ employees, on a sophisticated establishment setup having 13,000 sq.ft. area, owned by us. Now, our manufacturing plant is fully equipped with state of the art of a large number of CNC and 5 Axis VMC machines, supported with a sophisticated Tool-Room.
In addition to the above, Harmle–C250 and Zoller–SMILE 400 for Inspection are the prime assets of our manufacturing facilities.
Precise Cutting Tools stands today, with the strength of product quality and service reliability, as a ‘World-Class’ leading company engaged in design, manufacture, and supply of standard, as well as, Special Cutting Tools and Tool Holding Devices.
We are now certified for ‘ISO: 9001- 2015, for Quality Management System.
All the business processes and MIS are supported by a powerful customized ERP system. Moreover, environmental care, industrial safety, health of employees and social responsibility hold as integral parts of the organisational business operations.
Precise Cutting Tools has been approved by a number of MNCs for their audits of Safety, Environment and Supplier Code of Conduct aspects.
Business results are encouraging, and our turnover during last ten years, from 2008 to 2018 has grown by ten times more!

Q. Product innovation through R&D is vital to be forrader in the competition, as per your opinion, how does R&D plays the role of catalyst in the success process?
Mr. Lijo:
Let me tell you, though we manufacture and supply standard tools, according to ISO standard, we are a company specialized for ‘Specials’!
However, I think, we have now reached the stage that we need to have a separate R&D activity for further technical developments.
Recently we moved some of our business activities into our new sophisticated works, & we are planning to set up our R&D soon. We are on the way.
Q. Quality standards are benchmarked by the product performance; please brief us how do you maintain the quality norms since from solution development to implementation?

Q. You said, you are a ‘World Class Company’. Will you please explain this further?
Mr. Rajendra:
We do have our plant and equipment of world class level, including 5-Axis Harmle-C250, Zoller-Smile-400, etc.
However, please understand, ‘World Class Company’ concept does not restrict only to our plant and machinery and facilities available. This also applies to our Products, Processes, People, and the organisational work culture.
We intent to be ‘Productivity Partner’ for our customers, helping them to improve their production efficiency at reduced tooling cost. Objective is not to sell only products; but also to provide entire solution for their product development and manufacturing processes.
Our business and manufacturing processes are ‘system oriented’ having a powerful ERP in place. Processes are supported by professionally competent people.
We have been approved by ISO:9001-2015 certification for QMS.
Healthy work culture and human approach for employees, is the strong foundation for passion and team working across the organisation.
However, this is not enough for us to be in line with world class business culture.
Additional important aspects, like Industrial Safety, Environmental Care, and Fair Business Ethics those have been addressed with due importance and implemented in all our business processes and activities.
Q. How was your experience while reaching to world class business performance level?
Mr. Rajendra:
Initially, when we started, we were carried by the local work culture; and it continued for quite some time. Frankly speaking, we learned from our MNC customers the concept of ‘World Class’ work culture & its need & advantages for the organisation.
We decided to adopt this way of working for our company. Initially, it was found little difficult to convince our employees to understand and adopt the concept of ‘World Class’ working performance.
Training and awareness sessions were conducted by experienced management consultant to change employee mindset and make them to understand what and why is the need of ‘World Class’ work culture.
Employees understood this as an opportunity for their better working conditions and for their individual career growth along with the organisational bright business future.
Demand from some of our MNC customers for us to be in line with their business culture also pushed us towards this change.
Our business results today are quite encouraging and we do have a higher level of customer satisfaction and employee satisfaction, both achieved.
