Passenger vehicle sales in India declined in November after a blip in the previous month, prompting the nation’s main auto industry group to call for tax cuts to spur demand for cars and motorcycles. Sales of passenger vehicles fell 0.8% to 263,773 units last month, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, or SIAM, said in a statement on Tuesday. Sales had risen 0.3% in October on the back of festival demand. Cars witnessed an 11% slump to 160,306 units in November, although sport-utility vehicles saw sales surge nearly 33%. SIAM’s automobile sales are counted as factory dispatches, and not retail…

Weak demand and muted output prices may further weaken the manufacturing sector, dragging it in the second half of the fiscal year as well. The industrial production in India is contracting since August 2019 and even the forecast indicates no relief in the near-term. A contraction in output of eight core industries, which constitute 40 per cent of the index of industrial production, extended into the second consecutive month in October and became more pronounced, said RBI in its December bulletin. The index is pulled down by the downturn in coal, electricity, cement, natural gas and crude oil. Low capacity…

Although it may not be obvious, there’s a close link between manufacturing technology and innovation. Elon Musk often talks of the “machines that build the machines” as being the real enabler in both his space and automotive businesses. Using less-expensive, more scalable processes allows Space X to launch missions on budgets and with speed that would be unthinkable using NASA’s old-school manufacturing methods. And the new Tesla Cybertruck’s unorthodox design appears to take advantage of a simplified manufacturing process that does away with “die stamping” metal in favor of bending and folding metal sheets. Now a new manufacturing method dubbed…

Sanofi, which has moved purposefully into high technologies to get more from its manufacturing, will lean heavily on that strategy to shrink costs and fatten margins. Using robotics, artificial intelligence and new generation manufacturing should save it half a billion euros in annual costs by 2022. So says Sanofi CFO Jean-Baptiste Chasseloup de Chatillon who was filling in some details of new CEO Paul Hudson’s €2 billion cost-savings plan laid out Tuesday during Sanofi’s investor conference. “It is a leapfrogging of productivity. It reduces cycle time,” Chasseloup de Chatillon said on a webcast of the conference. And by how much.…

P30-1 Edge finishing machine is applied for tool edge finishing, surface polishing and after coating process. Edge Finishing (Rounding): Tool edge Finishing keeps highly consistent. According to roundness requirement, the Finishing process can generally be controlled in 1~20 minutes under the levelμ, highly maintaining Finishing consistency. Polishing: Tool surface polishing largely prolong tool life. 5-30 minutes’ tool surface polishing before tool coating can significantly reduce roughness of cutting groove and tool surface, thus to effectively improve the adhesion of tool edge coating, reducing the breaking probability and prolonging tool life. After-coating process: Clear particles to improve cutting efficiency. Micro-particles generate…

If additional movements are needed in a mould, designers often rely on mcam pins, compression springs or latch locks. Now there is an alternative from FIBRO: Mould Line, the gas spring for mould making. Gas springs are always the right choice whenever, for instance, another intermediate plate or a slidem, unit is to be moved parallel to the mould opening at the parting line. Benefits include, above all, pressure monitoring and simple force control. An additional aspect is the overload protection. Should a component, which is to be moved, be jammed – for example, a stripper or an intermediate plate in…

Wet or dry? This is no longer the question! Electrode milling in conjunction with cooling lubricant offers a good alternative to dry working. An extensive comparative test of Zecha’s SEAGULL® tools demonstrates the numerous advantages of wet milling: cleaner working, more flexible machine utilisation, improved dimensioning and lower tool wear The many advantages that graphite electrodes offer have made them the mainstay of spark erosion – no manual reworking, no deburring, hardly any burn-off, even intricate geometries are possible and the electrode comes out of the milling machine ready for eroding. Nevertheless, its manufacture frequently continues to be plagued by…
